I have owned this car for 2 years and it has been a rare treat. The odometer shows
just over 100,000 perfectly maintained miles. It runs and handles like new. The interior and
exterior look great and the engine compartment looks brand new. I changed the oil every 3,000 miles
always using Mobil 1 synthetic. I just replaced the stock 16" Chrome Lexus wheels with a set of
BBS 17" wheels and Z rated Potenza tires - $2,500. It also has a custom exhaust system which sounds
great and adds some horsepower. The car has all maintenance up to date. I have extensive records
and a complete service print out is available from Lexus. The car just passed smog and is
registered until December 2002. It is ready to go!
This car has got it all from a performance standpoint. The computer controlled all aluminum V8, complete
with 32 valves and 4 overhead cams delivers 260 horsepower and 270 lbs of torque. And all this
power from a mere 240 cubic inches (4 liters) WOW! The transmission is equally impressive.
Lexus engineers have equipped the SC 400 with a 4-speed electronically controlled automatic
transmission with ECT-i intelligence - which interacts with the engine's on-board computer
to regulate line pressure, in turn providing smoother shifting.
Ride and handling are first class thanks to the 4-wheel, double-wishbone, coil-spring suspension,
gas-filled shocks and variable-assist, speed-sensitive power steering.
What an awesome sound system - a $4,000 option when new. The Nakimichi, 280 watt, seven speaker set-up with 12 disc CD trunk mounted
changer blasts.
Of course the SC400 boasts a long list of standard luxury-line features that include leather
seats and appointments, maple trim, multi-adjustable power seats, a power telescopic/tilt
steering wheel, automatic climate control, outside temperature gauge, cruise control, power
locks and a remote entry system.
Here are some shots of the car with the original Chrome Lexus rims.
